On behalf of the Lake Mountain School District Board of Education, we are pleased to provide an update regarding the selection of our district’s inaugural leadership. Following an exhaustive and highly collaborative search process, we have reached a significant milestone in building the foundation of our new district.
Our Selection Process
To ensure the highest standard of leadership, the Board conducted a rigorous search that drew over 20 qualified applicants. We believe a school district should reflect the community it serves; therefore, we engaged a committee of 30 community members to assist in the selection.
This diverse committee included a mayor, a state legislator, representatives from the Alpine Education Association and Alpine Education Support Professionals, a school resource officer, school administrators, nutrition workers, PTA/SCC members, teachers, parents, and former superintendents. This group conducted a blind screening process, scoring candidates based on their expertise and vision. Following a public forum and multiple rounds of interviews, the Board has reached a final decision.
Introducing Our New Leadership
We are proud to announce the appointment of our inaugural leadership team:
Dr. Vicki Carter, Superintendent: With over 35 years in public education—including 18 years as a school administrator—Dr. Carter brings a wealth of local knowledge and a heart for our community. She is committed to building a culture of trust, respect, and empowerment for our educators.
Dr. Amanda Bollinger, Deputy Superintendent: Dr. Bollinger joins us with 25 years of experience across all levels of the Utah education system from elementary to high school. Her expertise in curriculum, instruction, and special education will be vital as we establish our district systems.
A Vision for the Future
"We are proud to launch our district with such a distinguished leadership team," stated Julie King, Board President. "Dr. Carter and Dr. Bollinger bring extensive expertise and decades of proven experience to our community. They are seamlessly aligned with our vision for academic excellence and purposeful innovation. Their collaboration with the Board will be vital in ensuring data-informed decisions that serve every student as we build our foundation. Together, we are committed to being courageous and intentional in our approach to modern education."
Looking Ahead
While our district officially opens its doors on July 1, 2027, the work begins immediately. This leadership team will now begin the complex task of establishing policies, hiring dedicated staff, and ensuring that Lake Mountain School District is prepared to provide an outstanding educational experience from day one.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we build this legacy together.
Sincerely,
The Lake Mountain School District Board of Education
